Who will win the AI revolution in e-commerce?

AI in e-commerce is no longer a futuristic concept; it’s a real tool that can influence sales, costs, and customer experience. However, as Aleksander Kożuchowski-Przybyszewski, CEO of 300.codes, emphasized at a conference organized by our client Melisa.pl, artificial intelligence is not a silver bullet on its own.

According to the State of AI in Business 2025 report, as many as 95% of companies see no return on their AI investments. Why? The problem most often lies not in the technology itself, but in the approach to its implementation.

Key insights from the presentation:

  • AI is a strategy, not a tool. Too many companies start by choosing an application instead of first analyzing which costs they want to reduce or which processes they want to improve.
  • Without metrics, AI has no value. AI projects without KPIs and data-driven decisions end up as impressive experiments rather than a real source of savings or sales growth.
  • Adaptive UX, RAG, or product photo automation are examples of solutions that can have a real impact on the P&L statement—but only if companies can measure that impact.
  • No-code works… but not always. During the presentation, we showed how to build a working AI demo in just 56 minutes without code. However, for large projects, collaboration between the IT and business departments is still crucial.

Aleksander summed it up in one sentence:

“AI that doesn’t work on the shopping cart only works on slides.”

AI as a real competitive advantage

During his speech, Aleksander emphasized that the companies winning the AI revolution in e-commerce are those that:

  • can translate technology into specific numbers on the P&L,
  • understand customer purchasing processes and can improve them,
  • combine the competencies of IT, marketing, and business in joint projects.
